Welcome to the Lois & Clark: The New Adventure of Superman Writer’s Showcase, pioneered by Annie Lansbury back in 1998! In the last few years, FoLCdom has seen a resurgence\u2014old FoLCs coming back, new FoLCs joining, long-time lurkers de-lurking. It’s heartening to know just how awesome and long lasting FoLCdom is!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier this year, Carrie Rene started a monthly newsletter (which gets posted on the L&C Fanfic Message Boards<\/a> and in the Discord server\u2014yes! We have a #loisclark Discord server<\/a>!), and with that, she’s brought back the writer’s showcase! <\/p>\n\n\n\n Now, in keeping with Annie’s famous words, without further ado we are proud and honored to present this week’s Writer in the Writer’s Showcase …<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sara, Carrie, and Michael<\/p>\n\n\n\n lovetvfan<\/p>\n\n\n\n kmcarthurfanfiction@gmail.com <\/p>\n\n\n\n London, Ontario, Canada<\/p>\n\n\n\n I have been watching the show since I was in my late teens and early twenties. I caught it in re-runs after the show had ended in the early aughts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n There was probably a few but the one that sticks out (mainly because I love and still love angst) is \u201cBig Girls Don\u2019t Fly\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n I have been writing since I was old enough to be able to form words. Before I knew what it was, I was writing. I used to try to avoid going out at recess when I was little because I wanted so badly to stay in and just write.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n I have been writing for Lois and Clark since I started watching the show and discovered the online fan community. I took a long break between 2007 and 2020, but came back to it when the pandemic started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I have a lot of trouble with SHORT fics. I tend to write longer fics with either angst, waffs, or of the Nfic variety. The stories I write tend to explore the inner depths of the characters, or aspects of the show that got forgotten about. And yeah there are some Nfics I have written that are pure smut, but most of the stories that are Nfic, are longer dramatic stories where the Nfic aspect is part of the story.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n I have a few. I love \u201cNorth Wind\u201d because I think it\u2019s a really good piece of writing. I enjoy \u201cNSFW\u201d because that was just a lot of fun for me. \u201cFederal Disaster\u201d and \u201cThe Pen is Mightier than the Heart\u201d are two stories that explore some of the trauma that Lois went through and \u201cFrankly My Dear, I Don\u2019t Like Pearl Jam\u201d (written with KSaraSara) was the story where I won my first Kerth so it\u2019s hard to pick just one favourite.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n I have a ton of stuff that got abandoned this year because of life and other circumstances. A fic that KSaraSara and I were working on, a FtB story I didn\u2019t finish, a couple of Buffy the Vampire Slayer stories that got abandoned (including an L&C\/Buffy crossover) and a Doctor Who story that still needs to be finished.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n I loved KSaraSara\u2019s \u201cAway From the Sun\u201d and \u201cWherever You Will Go\u201d, \u201cDestined\u201d by SuperBek, and if we are going old school, \u201cFaustian Bargain\u201d by Sue S.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n I enjoy that there is a world built in for me, that I don\u2019t have to create. Dialogue and character are my favourite part of any story so knowing who the character is when I write is something I love because it\u2019s like being with my friends. I love that there is a community surrounding fic because writing is such a solitary experience. It\u2019s great to be able to share it with others.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n I enjoy the fact that the show portrayed a loving, safe, consensual relationship that didn\u2019t need to lean on characters hurting each other or being deliberately cruel for ratings. They had their ups and downs, but we knew they were going to have a happy ending.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n In-character dialogue and a writer who knows how to manipulate even the craziest concepts to make them make sense within the story.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Dear Readers, Welcome to the Lois & Clark: The New Adventure of Superman Writer’s Showcase, pioneered by Annie Lansbury back in 1998!
